Shotgun's Special I Like Corner...

There's so much impro going on at The Miller these days.  There's long form, short form, games shows, improvisers trying a bit of stand up (and they're surprisingly good at it and all), musical impro, dada impro (yes, really), Victorian impro, TV themed impro and more.  Have a look at London Improv for all the up to minute details and treat yourself to a delicious and varied meal of emerging and established improvisation, London style.

This month Shotgun Impro all fell a little bit in love with the fantastic Shawn Kinley (and some of us still haven't pulled ourselves together even now!).  Shawn has been a member of Keith Johnstone's Loose Moose Theatre Company for twenty-five years and when he's not doing that he travels the world leading workshops on improvisation, contact improvisation, mask work and mime.  He ran two workshops with Shotgun Impro and blew them (well, us, same thing) away.  He regularly comes to Europe to teach and perform - if you can possibly find a way to go to one of his workshops or see him in a show, then do!

We've got to mention The Funny Side, a brilliant comedy club situated in the heart of Covent Garden.  The stand up bills are fantastic, and they pepper this brilliance with one off impro shows and special sketch Bonanza nights.  They're so good they won the Chortle award for the Best Small Comedy Venue in London in 2007 and they've gone from strength to strength.  They sell out often, so book your tickets quickly!

Our fantastic pianist Paul Ayres needs to be thanked over and over again - thank you thank you Paul.  Here's his website where you can see that he is actually a composer, Musical Director, organist and conductor!  Where does he find the time?

It's Impropera we are name checking this month - go and see them and wonder.  It's not just because Anthony Ingle, their fantastic pianist, guested with us last month, it's also because they are hilarious and musical both at once.

We're going to repeat ourselves this month...we really really like The Crunchy Frog Collective website that brings together all the impro groups in the UK.  We've got a link to it below, but we like it so much we also have a link to it in this short paragraph.

This month we say I Love You Keith Johnstone, who often flies over to the UK to remind us who started all this in the first place!  Places will go fast, so get in quick.  Details on UK host's William Reay's website www.williamreay.com

We say a loud hello to Adriano Molie from Milan's Impro Collective Teatribu.  Have a look at how they do it in Italy... Teatribu
